Neil Harris has left the door open for Zian Flemming to depart Millwall this summer.

The playmaker attracted interest from MLS side San Jose Earthquakes prior to their transfer window closing on Tuesday, but remained with the Lions.

He has been a key figure in the squad since joining from Fortuna Sittard in 2022.

The London club rejected interest from Premier League side Burnley for the player last summer, and could be receiving offers again in the upcoming transfer window.

Flemming has contributed seven goals and five assists in the Championship this season (all stats from Fbref).

Carlton Palmer gives Zian Flemming transfer verdict

Carlton Palmer expects Flemming to depart Millwall at the end of the campaign.

He hopes Millwall reinvests the money back into the first team squad, as he believes the club could be challenging for promotion to the Premier League.

“Neil Harris, the manager of Millwall, has made a statement about Zian Flemming, saying that he expects to get a lot of interest in the summer,” Palmer told Football League World.

“They had a lot of interest in him last summer, he didn’t go.

“I think they brought him in for about £1.7 million from Dutch side Fortuna Sittard and he’s been outstanding for Millwall.

“There’s been a lot of interest in the player, and it’s expected that Millwall will move him on this summer because they need to build a squad to go again and get back into the chance to get into the play-offs, or higher or get promoted to the Premier League.

“So, it’s inevitable I think that Zian will move on this summer, and I’m sure Millwall will get remunerated very, very well.

“He’s still very young at 25, very talented footballer.

“I can see that he’s going to move on and Millwall will use that money.

“Hopefully, it will be given to Neil Harris to strengthen the squad to get them to push on and get them to gain promotion from the league.”

Millwall's disappointing campaign

It has been a disappointing campaign at the Den this year, with the team battling against relegation up until last weekend.

Three wins in their last three games has seen the Lions move up to 16th place, securing their position in the Championship for another year.

Flemming has been crucial to their survival, with the Dutchman having the most goals and assists in the entire squad.

Harris’ side will end the season with games against Plymouth Argyle and Swansea City.

Flemming could be worth in excess of £10 million

Millwall rejected offers valued at £15 million last summer, so he should still be worth an eight-figure sum this year.

It hasn’t been as strong a season from him this year, but he has still been the team’s standout player.

Some of his struggles have also been down to the club’s overall dip in form, so there’s not much to suggest he’s become a worse player than he was 12 months ago.

If another offer in the region of £15 million arrives then it will be worth considering this time around, and the Lions very well may cash in.
