Liverpool’s 2005 Champions League triumph will always be remembered for the miracle in Istanbul.
But in some ways, their semi-final against Chelsea was even more dramatic.
This was in the years when it felt like these two Premier League giants were battling out almost on a weekly basis in Europe.
It was Rafa vs José, Drogba vs Carragher, Lampard vs Gerrard – and it never, ever disappointed.
On May 3, 2005 they met at Anfield for the second leg of the Champions League semi-final having drawn 0-0 at Stamford Bridge a week earlier.
It was a tense, nervy, bad-bloodied game, and it was decided in the fourth minute by one of the most controversial goals of all-time.
Did the ball fully cross the line? We’re still not sure.
