There are few players to whom Inter’s win over Milan yesterday would have meant more than Dimarco.

The Italian international is a lifelong Inter fan. He came through the Nerazzurri’s youth ranks, and has established himself as a key player in the team’s starting eleven for a couple of years now.

Dimarco has said that the derby against Milan is the fixture that is most special to him.

And yesterday’s derby was perhaps the most significant win Inter have managed yet against the Rossoneri whilst Dimarco has been in the first team.

For the first time in history, Inter clinched the Serie A title in the derby.

That is the first league title for Dimarco. And it couldn’t have come in more perfect circumstances for him – a “dream.”

Federico Dimarco Earns Rave Reviews For Performance In “Dream” Derby Win Vs AC Milan

And Dimarco responded to the occasion with a more-than-worthy performance.

The 26-year-old played on the left flank, but also drifted infield a fair bit.

Dimarco was often the player orchestrating Inter’s counterattacking moves, particularly in the first half of the derby.

The Italian international’s movement, relentless ball-carrying, and his eye for a decisive pass in the final third put Milan to the sword.

It was also Dimarco’s corner that led to Inter’s opening goal.

The 26-year-old has proven to be an absolutely top-class set piece taker since coming back to Inter.

And Dimarco will put in few corners better than the one which Benjamin Pavard flicked on for Francesco Acerbi to head home for Inter’s opener.

The amount of backspin that the Italian international put on the ball made it virtually impossible for Milan to defend.
