Vincenzo Italiano praises Riccardo Orsolini for the stunning goal to beat Venezia, as Bologna register a fifth consecutive Serie A victory. ‘Orsolini can be decisive and incisive.’
The Rossoblu smashed Lazio 5-0 before the break for international duty to leapfrog Juventus into fourth place and consolidated it with this 1-0 win at the Stadio Penzo.
“I liked the fact we played as a mature team, which was by no means to be taken for granted, especially after the break for international duty,” said Italiano in his press conference.
“Many teams have struggled against Venezia in this stadium, we managed to resist with Skorupski’s saves and I am happy with Orsolini’s goal. He is returning to the player he was before the injury.”
This was his 10th goal of the season, a spectacular left-foot volley, yet Orsolini can’t seem to get into Luciano Spalletti’s Italy squad.
“He has this ability to be solid, decisive, incisive, and there are not many with those characteristics. Having him is a big deal for us.”

Bologna finished fifth in Serie A last season under coach Thiago Motta, but are on track to do even better with Italiano, so could they try to catch Atalanta in third?
“We have an incredible tour de force coming up, we’ve got games against all the top teams that will be decisive for the rest of the season. We are in a strong position, so we’ve just got to keep playing like this,” added the coach.
“We’ve got wingers who are well-suited to this style of football, all strong in one-on-one situations. They are all functional to our tactics and also in good shape, but what makes the difference is converting those chances into goals.”
It was put to Italiano that Bologna have scored at the start of the second half in each of their last four games, so what is his half-time team talk secret?
“It’s a secret,” he smiled. “This team knows that a new match begins after the restart, so we have to start strong and not be superficial. We must continue with this spirit, I liked the attitude of those who came off the bench too.”
