Italian referee Orsato assigned to England-Switzerland at EURO 2024 | OneFootball

Italian referee Daniele Orsato will officiate the EURO 2024 quarter-final between England and Switzerland, with Massimiliano Irrati at the VAR.

It kicks off in Dusseldorf on Saturday at 17.00 UK time (16.00 GMT).

He is among the candidates to be put in charge of the grand Final of this tournament, especially as he is heading for retirement this summer.

Italy have been eliminated, so he also would not be at risk of having a conflict of interest, even if they were knocked out in the Round of 16 by Switzerland.

Orsato given England-Switzerland quarter-final

Orsato will be assisted by Ciro Carbone and Alessandro Giallatini, with German Daniel Siebert as the fourth official.

Massimiliano Irrati will be in the VAR booth to communicate with Orsato in case of controversial incidents.

The 48-year-old referee officiated two 1-0 England wins against Croatia in EURO 2020 and Serbia in EURO 2024.

His record with Switzerland is of a 5-2 Nations League victory over Belgium in November 2018, then a pair of draws with Belgium and Germany, the latter in the group stage of EURO 2024.
