Indian Super League (ISL) sides and rivals, ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are reportedly interested in signing former Wales international, Neil Taylor for the upcoming 2022/23 season.
Taylor left Middlesbrough at the end of last season when his contract expired and is now a free agent which has seen him attract interest from clubs in India, Turkey and Azerbaijan. English tabloid, The Sun is now claiming that both ATK Mohun Bagan and East Bengal are keen on signing Taylor - with the 33-year-old having Indian heritage through his mum Shibani, who was born and raised in Kolkata.
Taylor who has played for the likes of Swansea City and Aston Villa in the past enjoyed a solid season for Middlesbrough after joining part way through the season, with the left-back making 17 appearances in all competitions as they finished seventh in the EFL Championship table last campaign.
The 33-year-old has also represented Wales 43 times so far in his career, playing in their impressive Euro 2016 campaign, though he has not played for them since 2019 after withdrawing from the squad for personal reasons.
The player is known to travel to India to promote football, and due to his ancestry it would not be much of a culture shift or change for him should he decide to join either of the Kolkata-based clubs.
