In the summer of 2023, Paris Saint-Germain said goodbye to Lionel Messi and Neymar Jr., and a year later, Kylian Mbappé also left. The club is now focusing on young talent with potential, but so far, none of these players have reached the level of superstardom.
Neymar left PSG for Al-Hilal in a €90 million move to Saudi Arabia, but his time at the club hasn’t gone as planned. After suffering a cruciate ligament tear that sidelined him for an entire year, the Brazilian has now picked up another injury.
This hamstring issue will keep him out for a while. As a result, this move to Saudi Arabia could be chalked up as a failure for the former PSG standout, at least what has transpired out on the pitch.

Neymar’s contract with Al-Hilal runs until June 2025, and after that, there’s speculation that he could return to Brazil to begin preparing for the 2026 FIFA World Cup by joining Santos FC, his boyhood club.
Journalist Cesar Luis Merlo reports that Al-Hilal and Neymar are working on terminating his contract. Neymar’s current deal runs until the end of the season, with an option for an additional year.
With Santos now confirmed for a return to Brazil’s Serie A, an official announcement about the contract termination could be coming soon.
However, there’s conflicting information about Neymar’s future. Florian Plettenberg from Sky Sports Germany reports that the latest rumors about him aren’t true.
It will be interesting to see if Neymar terminates his contract before June or if the player will need to wait until the summer to begin this new chapter in Brazil.
