David Prutton has issued his scoreline prediction for Ipswich Town’s big game with Huddersfield Town this weekend.

The fixture will have a big impact at both ends of the Championship table, with the Tractor Boys competing for automatic promotion to the Premier League.

The Terriers face the threat of relegation to League One, with both sides needing a result to aid their respective goals.

Ipswich just need a point to seal second in the table, while Andre Breitenreiter’s team need all three points to have any chance of survival.

Huddersfield also need a big swing in goal difference to overcome the three point gap to Plymouth Argyle, otherwise they will suffer the drop to the third tier.

Prutton has praised Ipswich’s rise to promotion contention, claiming they’ve been very entertaining to watch all season.

He has predicted Kieran McKenna’s side will come out on top with a 2-0 win to secure their place in the Premier League, and relegate Huddersfield in the process.

“They’ve been phenomenal, it’s been a joy to watch them, the game on Saturday against Hull was great,” said Prutton, via the Sky Sports Championship Predictions podcast.

“The game against Coventry, they were effective, and just everything about it.

“I like to think, unless you’re Norwich, they’ve got that sense of being everyone’s second team this season haven’t they in the Premier League? Because it has broken that three-way dust up between former Premier League teams.

“So they’ve been great, I’ve enjoyed watching them, I’ve enjoyed interactions with Kieran and all the players that have been involved.

“You can’t help but like them, can’t help but admire them.

“And they entertain, they score goals, they’re a great team to watch.

Ipswich Town's promotion permutation

Ipswich hold their fate in their own hands going into this weekend’s final round of fixtures.

Even just a draw will be enough to secure second spot ahead of Leeds United, with three points separating the teams.

Leicester City cannot be caught in first place, with the Foxes having secured the title on Monday night when they won 3-0 away to Preston North End.

Ipswich have the opportunity to seal back-to-back promotions from League One to the top flight, which hasn’t been achieved since Bournemouth in 2015 under Eddie Howe.

The final round of fixtures all get underway at 12.30pm on 4 May.

All the pressure is on Ipswich

Ipswich handled their game against Coventry midweek quite well given the circumstances.

But they will be under a lot of pressure to get a result this weekend to get over the line, which will be a real test for the players.

They will have the backing of the home crowd in their favour, but playing a team like Huddersfield will not be ideal as the Terriers have their survival at stake.

While it’s unlikely Huddersfield will stay up even with a win, they still have to do everything they can to give themselves a chance of staying up, which could come at the expense of Ipswich’s promotion hopes.
