After a poor run of form by their high standards, Ipswich Town will be hoping that a productive January transfer window can help them hold onto an automatic promotion spot come the end of the season.

It's been a remarkable start to the season for the Tractor Boys, who are enjoying a stellar first campaign back in the Championship since 2018/19.

However, Kieran McKenna's side haven't won a game since 12th December, leading to fears that they may soon fall behind the chasing pack of Southampton and Leeds.

A good January transfer window will be crucial for the Tractor Boys, and it's fair to say a move to Ipswich may be a very attractive proposition for any potential targets.

Here is the Ipswich Town transfer latest...

TWTD have reported that Blackburn Rovers captain Lewis Travis is set to move to Portman Road on a loan deal until the end of the season.

The versatile 26-year-old, who can play as a defensive midfielder or as a full-back, has been out of favour at Ewood Park in recent times, and has only started two of the club's last 10 league games.

It's reported that Travis wasn't short of potential options at Championship level, with the likes of Millwall and Preston both interested in signing him this month.

However, it appears that Ipswich have won the battle for his signature and he could even be involved in tomorrow's FA Cup clash away with AFC Wimbledon if all goes to plan.

This appears to be a very good signing by the Tractor Boys and Travis will provide cover for Sam Morsy who's set to miss the next two Championship games through suspension.

The Sun have reported that Ipswich are one of a handful of Championship clubs who are interested in Kieffer Moore.

Moore played for Ipswich on loan in 2016 and impressed during his time at Portman Road and the club are said to be keen to bring him back as they attempt to win promotion.

The Welsh striker has struggled for league minutes with Bournemouth this season and there are plenty of Championship clubs interested in acquiring his services for the second-half of the season.

At 6"4, Moore is a physical presence, but he offers more than an aerial threat and has previously impressed during his time as a Championship player.

"We're really pleased to have him" - McKenna on Jeremy Sarmiento

Ipswich made their first signing of the transfer window earlier this week when they signed Ecuador international Jeremy Sarmiento on loan from Brighton.

The 21-year-old spent the first half of the season on loan at fellow Championship club West Brom, but was recalled due to his parent club being unsatisfied with his game time.

However, McKenna is delighted to have got the signing over the line. He told TWTD: "We're really pleased to have him. He's a player that we feel that we know pretty well. We've watched him for a long period, both for Brighton last year and for West Brom this year.

"I've spoken to him for a considerable period of time and we feel like he's a good fit here. Culturally, he's a hard-working young player and he wants to improve. And we feel like he can add quite a lot to us within our style of playing, within our systems of play."

"Going to try our very best to improve the squad" - Kieran McKenna on potential January signings

Following a long-term injury to George Hirst and Dane Scarlett being recalled by Tottenham, McKenna has made it clear that he wants to bolster his squad this month.

He told the East Anglian Daily Times: "We're going to try our very best to improve the squad. We've done that in every window so far and let's hope from the end of this window we'll be in a stronger position than we are today as well.

"We're in a position where I think the style of play is pretty clear now and the atmosphere in the stadium is pretty clear. The momentum around the club is pretty clear, and that certainly makes it easier than if you're at the wrong end of the table. So that helps."
