Ipswich Town are set to sign Blackburn Rovers midfielder Lewis Travis on loan, according to TWTD.

The Tractor Boys have already been active in the transfer window this month, with Jeremy Sarmiento being recalled from West Bromwich Albion before being sent to Kieran McKenna's side for the remainder of the campaign.

The Suffolk outfit may have stuttered in recent times - but they have done an excellent job this season and are on course to be in the promotion mix at the end of the 2023/24 campaign.

With this in mind, it didn't seem as though Kieran McKenna's side needed to secure many deals, even though they didn't spend a huge amount during the summer transfer window.

But they are continuing to add depth to their squad, with Sarmiento set to provide them with more depth out wide and in the central advanced midfield position.

Travis now looks set to come in as McKenna's second signing.

In terms of departures, Dane Scarlett has returned to Tottenham Hotspur early and that's a good outcome for all parties considering the Spurs attacker wasn't thriving at Portman Road despite the Tractor Boys' success during the first half of the campaign.

TWTD believes this deal could end up being confirmed today.

Before the end of Friday, the midfielder is expected to arrive at Portman Road to finalise any last details before his move can be announced.

The Tractor Boys have managed to fend off interest to secure his signature, with Millwall and Preston North End also believed to have been interested in securing a loan deal for Travis.

Travis hasn't won too many minutes on the pitch in recent times and he may need a while to settle in and get back sharp once again.

However, he may not be required as a starter straight away and that's a good thing for both the club and the player, with the Rovers man needing time to adjust to life at Portman Road.

For the player, he has a chance to push for promotion with the Suffolk outfit and that will be a big boost to him after narrowly missing out on the play-offs with Jon Dahl Tomasson's side at the end of last term.

And for the Tractor Boys, they are getting an experienced midfielder for the remainder of the season without forking out a huge amount for him.

He is also a real leader and should enhance the club's promotion hopes with what he can bring to McKenna's men both on and off the pitch.
