The Ipswich Town boss has attracted plenty of interest in the past couple of weeks - and has been more heavily linked with a move away from Portman Road in this period than he has been in the past.

This interest comes following the Tractor Boys' back-to-back promotions from League One to the Premier League, with McKenna playing a major role in their success.

But he may not be at Portman Road when the 2024/25 campaign starts, amid intense interest from elsewhere.

Brighton and Hove Albion were previously thought to be at an advanced stage in their quest to appoint the 38-year-old, but a move to the Amex Stadium hasn't materialised for him at this stage.

And that has provided the likes of Chelsea and Man United with a boost in this race, with both thought to be keen on luring him away from Suffolk in the coming weeks.

The Blues don't have a manager in place following the departure of Mauricio Pochettino and United won't have one soon either, with the Red Devils reportedly set to sack Erik ten Hag after today's FA Cup final.

United are yet to announce that Ten Hag will be departing and that's understandable, considering today's match is such an important one, but the Dutchman's departure seems inevitable considering how poorly the top-tier giants have played at times during the 2023/24 campaign.

INEOS are keen to see a young manager come in to work in their structure - and McKenna could potentially be a good fit.

Several potential replacements have already been contacted, according to iNews, with the Red Devils needing a good replacement to come in, following years of turbulence at Old Trafford.

McKenna is prepared to wait for United, according to the same outlet, with the Northern Irishman's former side seemingly his preferred choice.

Moving away from Ipswich Town would be a big risk for Kieran McKenna

McKenna currently has a good setup at Portman Road and knows his players inside out.

He's also likely to get plenty of chances to put things right if the Tractor Boys struggle next season too.

He isn't guaranteed to get the same chances at Brighton, the Blues and the Red Devils, with fans of all three clubs having high expectations for different reasons.

The Seagulls have done brilliantly under Graham Potter and Roberto De Zerbi in recent years - and their fans will want them to keep progressing.

The Red Devils and the Blues, meanwhile, enjoyed real success in the past and expectations have remained high.

It just seems like a massive risk to make such a massive move during the early stages of his managerial career, with the Northern Irishman having plenty of time to make a big move in the future.
