The Frenchman was involved in a number of Inter’s first-half attacks, but was unable to get himself on the scoresheet as the two teams went in for half-time level at 0-0.

Thuram did not appear for the start of the second-half though, as he was instead replaced by Mehdi Taremi.

Reports from Gianluca Di Marzio suggest that Thuram felt a slight strain in his adductor muscle in his left leg, which is why Inzaghi decided to take him off to prevent any further damage.

Fortunately for the Nerazzurri, the change of strikers did not impact their success in front of goal, as Denzel Dumfries struck twice within 20 minutes from right wing-back to send his side on their way to the final, which will take place on January 6.
