Salernitana coach Pippo Inzaghi explains his decisions for tonight’s match against Roma and admits it is ‘special’ to face his 2006 World Cup teammate Daniele De Rossi.

It kicks off at the Stadio Arechi at 19.45 GMT.

The Sea Horses are rock bottom of the table after three consecutive defeats and have Boulaye Dia, Lorenzo Pirola and Federico Fazio not fully fit.

“Grigoris Kastanos does not have 90 minutes in his legs and could be decisive for the second half. Simy has been doing well and deserves to play,” Inzaghi told DAZN.

“Niccoló Pierozzi is slightly out of position, but we trust he has the capabilities and can do it.”

Although they have lost three on the bounce, the performances have certainly improved and Salernitana were beaten only by the narrowest of margins.

“We keep saying, this is a different Salernitana team in recent weeks and we want to keep getting stronger.

“Roma are technically a better team, but we will give it our best and hope to pick up some of the points that we deserved to get in recent weeks.”

This is a reunion between 2006 World Cup winners Inzaghi and De Rossi, although it is not the first time, as De Rossi’s SPAL beat Inzaghi’s Reggina in Serie B last season.

“It already happened with Alberto Gilardino and Fabio Grosso, it means we were a really special group. I know how much Daniele cares about Roma and it has always been his dream to be their coach.”
