Inter director Dario Baccin confirmed the arrivals of Piotr Zielinski and Mehdi Taremi, gave an update on the ongoing contract renewals with various stars and spoke about the interest in Bento.

The Nerazzurri were a cut above the rest in Serie A this term, comfortably cruising to the league title after shaking off the relatively unconvincing title challenges from Milan and Juventus, allowing them to start building towards the new campaign early.

Inter are working on locking down various stars including Lautaro Martinez and Nicolo Barella to new contracts, before switching their focus to the transfer market, where they’ll look to bolster Simone Inzaghi’s squad ahead of a busy 2024-25 campaign.

Baccin on Inter transfer plans

Speaking to Sky Sports Italia, Baccin first confirmed the arrivals of Zielinski and Taremi.

“Like all markets there will be difficulties this year too, this is a group that has done very very well, we will have to change as little as possible. We are proud to have put two players like Zielinski and Taremi in our squad, we are proud that they chose us.

“There will be some physiological changes, but we will work to give the coach functional players. The project wants to be successful in the future too.”

He reflected on the interest in Julian Alvaraz and Mateo Retegui.

“You mentioned two names that I won’t deny that we have followed in the past. For an operation there are many parameters that coincide at that moment, as well as including them in the squad. We liked them but for a whole series of reasons it wasn’t possible to sign them.”

Baccin was asked what it would take to see various players in the Inter first team.

“I think of other players who are making their mark, I think of Zanotti, Satriano, the Esposito brothers, Carboni, there are many players who are making an important journey, we follow them with a specific structure.

“Even the president, Steven Zhang, is attentive and involved. The goal is to have as many players trained in the first team as possible. It is not easy to bring two or three players together every year.”

He confirmed Inter’s interest in goalkeeper Bento.

“In the meantime, we are happy with our goalkeepers, they performed well, it is clear that thinking about the future, Bento is one of the names we are evaluating, who we have observed very closely, he is making a lot of progress with the call-up of the Brazilian national team. It is premature still.”

Finally, Baccin was asked about Inter’s work with contract renewals.

“With everyone we believe there is a mutual will to move forward, there are some numbers to sort out, but with such a solid relationship and common will, there will be no problems. I believe we will move forward with everyone very happy.”
