Inter wingback Denzel Dumfries is happy that the team managed to secure an important result by beating Lecce in their first match of the season, and ready to shift the focus to next weekend’s match against Spezia already.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, the Dutchman gave his immediate reaction to the 2-1 win, in which his very late goal had made the difference.

Inter have finally kicked off their season after weeks of preparation, and it was a mixed bag of an evening which ultimately had a positive conclusion from a Nerazzurri perspective.

Some aspects of the performance showed clearly the aspects that still need work for the Nerazzurri, although the way in which the team pushed until the very end to secure the three points was a positive aspect which led to the team getting what they’d come for from their trip to Apulia.

Dumfries gave his thoughts, calling it “A really important win, we fought hard and we’re happy to have brought home the three points. Now it’s important to keep going like this.”

“It was important to score goals in the final minutes,” he continued. “We started well, then we struggled a bit.”

He concluded by saying, “Now we head to Spezia.”
