Inter hero Arturo Vidal dedicated his first Serie A goal to the fans as he vowed to keep getting better.

The Chilean came up against his former club Juventus in the Derby d’Italia on Sunday night and headed home the opening goal.

It was his first Serie A goal since leaving the Bianconeri and the second match in a row in which he’d found the back of the net after scoring against Fiorentina in the Coppa Italia in midweek.

That goal set the tone for a dominant performance from the Nerazzurri, with Nicola Barella making it 2-0 in the second half to send Inter seven points clear of the defending champions.

It was the first time the Beneamata had beaten Juve since 2016 and Vidal feels it shows just how far Antonio Conte’s team can go.

The Chilean dedicated his goal to the fans as he pledged to keep working to improve.

“It was a very important goal,” Vidal told Inter TV.

“I’m happy to have scored against a very strong team that has won nine league titles in a row and one that everyone knows we’ll have to fight to the end for the Scudetto.

“Today we have shown that we are there, that we’re a team that is hungry and has everything to fight until the end.

“This was the strongest team we could face, this was the leap in quality that we needed to make.

“We played a beautiful and intelligent match against a very strong team, we’re there.

“This was my second goal and I hope to score many more, but the most important thing is for the team to fight for our objective which is to win the Scudetto.

“I want to keep working like this and fight to the end, I know I still have to improve but I’m happy.

“I’m on the right team, I’ve scored two goals in the last two games and that gives me a lot of confidence.

“I take pleasure in what I’m doing every day, I’m working hard non-stop.

“I want to do a lot of great things with Inter.

“I dedicate this to my children, my girlfriend, my family and the Inter fans.

“I want to tell them that I’ve arrived and I want to continue like this.”
