Ademola Lookman has been Inter’s top transfer target for almost a month now.

However, the Serie A runners-up have been unable to convince Atalanta to sell their standout performer.

Indeed, they’ve already seen two formal offers comfortably rejected by the Bergamo outfit.

Inter’s second bid, worth €45 million, fell €5 million short of Atalanta’s asking price.

Furthermore, Ivan Juric’s men have shown zero interest in lowering their demands, putting Inter in a tough spot.

Meanwhile, the 27-year-old is doing everything to force his transfer to San Siro.

He has already refused to join the squad for pre-season training and deleted all social media posts in the Atalanta shirt.

On top of that, he has recently emptied his locker at La Dea’s training ground.

Lookman is currently in limbo.

Atalanta won’t let him join Inter unless the Nerazzurri meet their €50 million valuation.

On the other hand, the player has no intention of staying at the Gewiss Stadium.

Therefore, D’Amico believes the next step could be a contract termination.

“Atalanta should take issue with certain clubs that are unsettling Lookman,” he said. “Inter have made their offer.

“I read that the player had an agreement with Atalanta regarding his departure.

“Let’s not forget that, following the Diarra case, a player can terminate a contract.

“Lookman could terminate his deal, and Atalanta would then be entitled to compensation,” he continued.

“The abolition of Article 17 upholds the free movement of citizens in Europe.

“Lookman is non-EU, but there are legal precedents that equate non-EU workers to EU ones.

“Let’s not forget, however, that players aren’t pieces of wood – they’re human beings.”
