Liverpool have reportedly offered Inter the chance to sign Belgian forward Divock Origi on loan for the rest of the season this month.

According to Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport, Inter have been given the opportunity to sign Origi on loan due to his lack of game time for Liverpool so far this season.

The report claims, however, that Inter are also considering a move for Atalanta’s Papu Gomez, who played against Liverpool in the Champions League earlier this season.

ANFIELD WATCH VERDICT

On paper, this would be a very strange transfer for all concerned. Origi is not getting minutes at Liverpool and a loan move would, presumably, be to get him some minutes on the pitch, yet Inter are well-stocked in the attacking department. Romelu Lukaku and Lautaro Martinez have scored 21 goals between them this season having both started 14 games, whilst they also have the likes of Christian Eriksen, Alexis Sanchez and Ivan Perisic able to operate across the attacking set-up.

This means that it could be difficult for Origi to force his way into Antonio Conte’s side in the second half of the campaign to get enough minutes to warrant the temporary switch. Not only does that affect Inter and Origi, but it could also cause issues for Liverpool as it could potentially hinder their chances of selling him permanently in the summer if that is what they want to do.

If Origi can get a good loan move where he plays regular football and starts scoring goals then he could put himself in the shop window. So, if Liverpool can get him out playing and scoring, they could profit off of that in the summer should interested parties start making bids because of his form out on loan at whichever club it may be.
