Inter planning changes against Atletico Madrid

There are reports Inter are leaning towards some changes in the Champions League showdown with Atletico Madrid, starting Denzel Dumfries and Stefan de Vrij.

The Nerazzurri have a 1-0 first leg lead thanks to the Marko Arnautovic strike and the decider is at the Wanda Metropolitano on Wednesday at 20.00 GMT.

Arnautovic and Carlos Augusto are not making the trip due to muscular issues, with Juan Cuadrado and Stefano Sensi long-term absentees.

According to Sky Sport Italia, Simone Inzaghi is planning some changes to the starting XI.

The first will see De Vrij get the nod rather than Francesco Acerbi in defence, as the veteran is not quite at 100 per cent following his lay-off.

The other is a very attack-minded move with Dumfries preferred to Matteo Darmian on the right side of the five-man midfield.

Dumfries is generally chosen against more defensive sides to break them down and is not known for his defensive or tactical discipline.

Benjamin Pavard, Federico Dimarco and Lautaro Martinez were rested for the Serie A win over Bologna, so they all return to the starting XI.

Hakan Calhanoglu is fit again after injury, as is Marcus Thuram.
