Inter Milan striker Martin Satriano is close to joining Ligue 1 club Lens on an initial loan with a purchase obligation.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They report that the purchase obligation will be for a fee of €6 million.

23-year-old Uruguayan international striker Satriano spent last season on loan with Brest in Ligue 1.

The Inter striker scored four goals and made four assists in Ligue 1. He made a total of 33 appearances in the league.

And Brest reached a surprise qualification for the Champions League, finishing third in the table.

According to the Corriere dello Sport, Brest remain interested in keeping Satriano.

The newspaper report that this time around, they want to sign him on a permanent basis rather than another loan.

Satriano has in fact been on loan at Brest twice. He had previously spent the second half of the 2021-22 season on loan with the French club.

And during the 2022-23 campaign, Satriano had been out on loan with Empoli in Serie A.

Inter have been looking to offload Satriano this summer. And the Nerazzurri’s preference has been to sell the Uruguayan once and for all rather than another loan move.

The likes of Stuttgart, Real Betis, and Valencia have all registered an interest in the 23-year-old’s signature.

Moreover, Brest also showed a strong interest in bring Satriano back. They reached an agreement with Inter on a free, but the player himself was reluctant on the move.

Reports had suggested that Satriano preferred a move to a team in La Liga rather than another move to Ligue 1.

Then, Marseille came forward with interest in signing Satriano.

However, the Corriere reports, it will be yet another Ligue 1 club who sign Satriano in the conclusion to the 23-year-old’s transfer saga.

The newspaper report that Lens are on the verge of completing a deal. It will be an initial loan deal with a €6 million purchase obligation.

That purchase obligation was key to Lens beating Marseille to Satriano’s signature.

Inter were insistent on a deal with a mandatory obligation rather than just a purchase option.
