Inter Milan midfielder Marcelo Brozovic is delaying his negotiations with Al-Nassr in the hopes of securing a transfer to Barcelona.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport via FcInterNews, the Saudi Pro League club has the green light to negotiate with the Croatian after agreeing on a transfer fee with the Nerazzurri.
However, the 30-year-old isn’t keen on a transfer to the Middle East. Instead, his wish is to play at the Camp Nou stadium next season.
The source also suggests that the player has already spoken to Barcelona coach Xavi Hernandez. The two men are hoping to work side-by-side next season.
Moreover, Barcelona have reportedly offered Brozovic a contract worth 7 million euros, which is higher than what he currently earns at Inter (6M), even though it remains far from the figures presented by Al-Nassr.
Nonetheless, The main hurdle remains finding an agreement between the Blaugrana and the Beneamata. Due to their financial issues, the Catalans are struggling to make an offer that satisfies their Italian counterparts.
Therefore, Barcelona will have to trim their squad before mounting an improved onslaught for Brozovic.
In the meantime, the source believes that the midfielder is willing to wait for another week or so. But at the end of the ultimatum, he’ll have no choice but to entertain Al-Nassr’s offer.
For their part, Inter are anxiously awaiting the end of this transfer saga. The Nerazzurri are hoping to collect a satisfying transfer fee as soon as possible to reinvest it on Davide Frattesi.
The Nerazzurri need to act swiftly, as the Sassuolo midfielder has several other suitors. The club has already lined up an alternative in the shape of Valencia and USMNT star Yunus Musah.
