Out-of-favour Inter Milan forward Joaquin Correa has been offered to Roma in the final days of the transfer window.

This according to Italian outlet FCInterNews. They report that the Giallorossi could consider a move for the 30-year-old, particularly if Paulo Dybala leaves.

For much of this summer, it has seemed all but a foregone conclusion that Correa would have Inter.

The Argentine was on loan at Marseille last season. However, he failed to score or assist a goal across the entire campaign for the Ligue 1 club.

There was a purchase obligation in that loan deal which would have become an obligation had Marseille qualified for the Champions League. However they did not do so.

Therefore, Correa has been back at Inter. He’s been a part of the squad for all of preseason.

It’s been a mixed preseason for Correa, with a solid performance in the final friendly against Chelsea following some less convincing displays in other friendlies.

Prior to his loan to Marseille, Correa had never really found form across two seasons in an Inter shirt. He had joined from Lazio in the summer of 2021.

Inter Outcast Joaquin Correa Offered To Roma

In the last few days, the possibility has even emerged that Correa could stay at Inter and see out his contract.

This would have seemed improbable. But Inter coach Simone Inzaghi would not be averse to the idea, as it would mean having greater attacking depth next season.

But from the club’s perspective, they want Correa gone.

Inter know that it will be tough to get a fee of any size for Correa considering his contract situation.

However, the Nerazzurri would save around €7 million in gross wages if the Argentine is out the door.

Therefore, Inter are continuing to hope that Correa’s agent can find a solution for him.

And a surprise possibility could present itself in the last few days of the transfer window in the form of the city rivals of Correa’s former club Lazio.

FCIN report that the 30-year-old’s agent Alessandro Lucci has been in contact with Roma.

And GIallorossi coach Daniele De Rossi is intrigued by the idea. He wants at least one more forward before the end of the window.

And the fact that Paulo Dybala could leave the Italian capital could further open the door for a surprise transfer for Correa.
