Inter Milan superstar goal-getter Lautaro Martinez has been up the creek without a paddle since the start of the 2024/25 season.
According to Corriere dello Sport via FCInterNews, Simone Inzaghi desperately needs his talismanic striker to get back on track amid Inter’s treble quest.
Lautaro Martinez amazed the footballing world last season.
It’s fair to say he’s been earning plaudits since joining the Nerazzurri from Racing Club in 2018.
However, the 2023/24 campaign was impressive in particular.
El Toro won the Capocannoniere award before being named the Serie A MVP.
Unfortunately, his form has fallen off a cliff this term.
The 27-year-old boasted 15 goals at this stage of last season.
But he has only tallied six in 2024/25, testifying to his troubled patch.
With Inter bidding to defend the Scudetto and win the UEFA Champions League, Inzaghi needs his lucky charm back to his best.
In Martinez’s defense, his goals, albeit sparse, have often been crucial.
Indeed, he inspired Inter to victories at Roma and Udinese, while his match-winner settled a dramatic home game against Venezia.
Therefore, he has been decisive but not as frequently as the Nerazzurri need him to be.
