By now, Inter’s interest in signing Taremi is a very badly-kept secret.

The Nerazzurri had considered a move for the Iranian international during the summer transfer window.

But in the end, it was Marko Arnautovic who arrived as a striker instead. The Austrian proved to be a lower-cost piece of business in the position than Taremi.

But far from cooling their interest in Taremi after signing Arnautovic, Inter have only pushed it back,

The Nerazzurri have continued their contacts with Taremi’s representives.

The 31-year-old remains a priority target for Inter in attack.

But the central question regarding Inter’s pursuit of Taremi will concern the timing of a prospective move.

According to SportItalia, January will not likely be the month that Inter attempt to sign the Iranian international.

Inter Want Mehdi Taremi Next Summer – But Not Likely In January

The fact that Taremi’s contract with Porto runs out at the end of next June is a major factor underlying Inter’s interest in the 31-year-old.

The Nerazzurri have a strong propensity towards seeking out free transfer opportunities.

And given that Taremi is a player whose profile as an out-and-out Number Nine is already one that Inter value highly, his availability without a transfer fee would be an appealing facet for the Nerazzurri.

And that will be how Inter move for Taremi, SportItalia anticipate.

There have been some rumours that the Nerazzurri could even try and push forward a move for Taremi.

Porto may well be willing to listen to offers next month. That will be their final opportunity to cash in on the 31-year-old.

But according to SportItalia, Inter have little interest in doing so.

The Nerazzurri generally avoid doing major business in January. But they are very much keeping their pursuit of Taremi alive for June.
