Inter Milan have not ruled out an exit for forward Lautaro Martinez, amid tentative links with Arsenal in their hunt for a new striking addition.

The Argentine forward has been a key player for the Serie A side in recent seasons, notably forging an immense centre-forward partnership with Romelu Lukaku under the now departed Antonio Conte at the San Siro.

That duo was vital in ending the club’s 11-year wait for a Scudetto, the two men combining for 41 league goals last term, including 17 for Martinez to take his total tally to 49 goals in 132 games in all competitions for the Italian club.

He followed up that impressive 2020/21 campaign by playing an integral role in Argentina’s Copa America triumph, the 23-year-old scoring three times in the tournament.

Despite his rising status, however, the forward could be set for an exit from Inter this summer, Sky Sports Italia reporting that the club have not ruled out a sale, amid tentative interest from Arsenal.

Inter are currently in the midst of a financial crisis and have already been forced to offload star full-back Achraf Hakimi to Paris Saint-Germain, while title-winning manager Conte exited the club earlier this summer after a dispute with the owners regarding the lack of funds and the need to sell off key assets.

As per the report, Martinez could follow Hakimi out the door this summer, should the club receive an appropriate offer for his services.

The former Racing Club striker currently has just two years remaining on his existing deal with talks over an extension having stalled, leaving open the possibility that he could be sold before his value decreases further the nearer he gets to the end of his current contract.

New boss Simone Inzaghi is already eyeing up Lazio forward Joaquin Correa as a possible replacement, the two men having worked together in Rome, with the Gunners said to be one club who could potentially take Martinez off their hands.

While no bid has been placed, the north London club appear interested in the player, as they look to bolster their centre-forward options.

With Alexandre Lacazette facing an uncertain future at the club and with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang enduring a frustrating campaign last time out, Mikel Arteta’s side could well recruit a new forward this summer.

The club has already been active in the transfer market, bringing in Benfica full-back Nuno Tavares and Anderlecht midfielder Albert Sambi Lokonga, while Brighton and England defender Ben White has also secured a move to the Emirates on a £50m deal.
