Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi envisions a meeting with Man City in the next round of the Champions League.

The Nerazzurri qualified for the Round of 16 after finishing second in their group. Therefore, Monday’s draw will pit them against one of the group winners.

This could see the Italian giants clashing heads with the Cityzens in a repeat of last season’s final, and it seems to be a scenario that would please Inzaghi.

When asked which side he would like to draw, the Inter manager said he expects the reigning European champions.

“I think we’ll get Manchester City. But we’ll see what happens,” said the Nerazzurri boss in his post-match with DAZN (via FcInterNews) following the win over Lazio.

“All the teams are very strong. Any of them would be a tough test.”

As for the encounter against his former club, Inzaghi revealed his satisfaction with the performance.

The league leaders extended the gap with Juventus to four points with a 2-0 win courtesy of Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram.

“Let’s say that these matches make the coaches happy. We all suffered together without conceding much to Lazio and we won on a very difficult pitch.

“Thuram and Lautaro are doing very well. But everyone at Inter is performing. We came to a difficult stadium while missing important players like De Vrij, Cuadrado, Sanchez and Dumfries.

“We did well in the difficult moments. We covered the pitch well. We should have been better on Rovella’s chance because we were in possession, but it was the only opportunity that we gave them. Let’s not forget they finished second last season.”

The Nerazzurri coach also had some words of praise for young defender Yann Bisseck.

“Bissek was very good, just like his teammates. For him, it was a huge test because Lazio had many important players on his side of the pitch.

“He’s adapting, he almost speaks Italian fluently. Today, playing Pavard would have been risky, but Yann was very good. He never got himself into trouble. He showed personality.”
