Inter had a chance to re-announce themselves in the Serie A title race this evening at the Stadio Olimpico.

And the Nerazzurri did just that. In dramatic fashion.

Inter were up against tough opposition in Lazio. The Biancocelesti have secured impressive wins over the likes of Napoli and Ajax in the last week.

And in the first half an hour or so. it was clear why. Inter had to hang on as Lazio aimed to push the tempo and cause problems for them.

However, towards the second half of the match Inter completely took control.

The Nerazzurri scored six goals without reply. They made a massive statement of intent in the Serie A title race – as well as to rivals in Europe.

Simone Inzaghi In A Defiant Mood After Inter Rout Lazio

After the match, Inter coach Simone Inzaghi said that “We had a great match.”

“We prepared well after we got back from Leverkusen,” he went on. “The guys prepared for it well.”

“We knew the quality that Lazio have. But we did well to interpret it.”

“We have a game in hand to make up still. After the last few matches in the league we have the Supercoppa as well.”

“It will all be tricky,” Inzaghi said. “But we’ll work hard and hope that we can keep putting in performances like this.”

“We’ve had great consistency, but you can all look at the table. There are a lot of teams like Lazio who are in a great run of form.”

Inzaghi said that his team made a statement of intent, “particular because we beat a team who are in a great moment of form.”

“In the first twenty minutes we didn’t fall apart,” the Inter coach continued. “We kept our shape well between the lines.”

“Then after the third goal went in everything became easier. Because of these guys who’ve given me great commitment in the last three and a half years.”

“We still haven’t done anything yet,” Inzaghi stressed.

“The thing that makes me proudest is the crazy amount that all of these guys put in,” Inzaghi went on.

“This is a great group. They all deserve to play, but I have to make my decisions on who starts.”

“After the derby we lost, a lot of people couldn’t wait for us to stumble like we did against Leverkusen,” Inzaghi said, defiantly.

“A lot was said. But fortunately, these guys, like their coach, don’t let these things get to them and just work hard.”
