Inter Milan coach Antonio Conte insists their Champions League hopes remain alive ahead of meeting Borussia Monchengladbach.

Inter's chances hang in the balance after last week's defeat to Real Madrid.

"There were a lot of negative judgements after the match against Real Madrid, I heard people saying Real did what they wanted. They forget that we were reduced to ten men after 30 minutes and they had a penalty after four minutes. I challenge anyone situations to play on a pair against Real in this situation," Conte said at a press conference.

“We created those situations and they penalized us, we must improve so that we do not create these negative situations that make everything more difficult.

“Tomorrow's is a game against a difficult team that is doing well in the Champions League. We must do our best to get out of the pitch without regrets.

"We started the Champions League as referees of our destiny, if today we are not, it means that we made some mistakes in some situations. Having said that, the only way to try to stay alive is to win tomorrow against Borussia.

“We know that it won't be easy, but it will be an opportunity for us to follow a path started in Europe, where there are often knock-out games. There is an opportunity to test this type of situation once again."
