Inter Milan are hoping they can continue to be tactical “kryptonite” for Atalanta in today’s Supercoppa Italiana clash.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews. They note that Inter have won six and drawn two against La Dea since Simone Inzaghi took over.
Inter and Atalanta face off in the semifinals of the Supercoppa Italiana today.
The Nerazzurri and La Dea are certainly two of the most formidable teams in Serie A. This season, and over the past few more broadly.
Atalanta have become a winning machine under Gian Piero Gasperini.
But there’s one team that the Bergamo side have not been able to get the better of.
Inter and Atalanta have faced seven times in Serie A since Simone Inzaghi became Nerazzurri coach. They’ve also met in the Coppa Italia quarterfinal stage of the 2022-23 season.
Of those eight meetings, Inter have won six. Meanwhile, Atalanta have failed to win any, with the other two ending in stalemates.
Moreover, the last two times that Inter and Atalanta faced off in Serie A, the Nerazzurri won by an emphatic 4-0 scoreline.
Inzaghi seems to be one of the few coaches who’s really found a solution to Atalanta coach Gasperini’s system.
Defensively, the Nerazzurri have proven resolute at covering the versatile movement of La Dea in possession.
And in attack, Inter have consistently managed to take advantage of the spaces Atalanta leave at the back.
Gasperini and his team have a chance to have another crack at Inter this evening.
But they’ll have a tough precedent to try and defy, if recent history is anything to go by.
