Inter are close to agreeing on a deal to sign Ajax goalkeeper Andre Onana on a free transfer next summer, with only the final details on his contract remaining to be discussed.
This according to Italian news outlet L’Interista, who report that the Cameroonian is set to arrive at the end of June 2022 when his contract with the Dutch giants expires.
The Nerazzurri have been in search of a long-term successor to first-choice keeper Samir Handanovic, who is 37 and whose contract with the club is set to run out next summer.
Onana has emerged as one of the top options in the club’s search, and with the 25-year-old available for free next summer the Nerazzurri will see him as a cost-effective option who will nevertheless not represent a drop-off in quality from Handanovic.
The Nerazzurri and the player have agreed terms on a deal which would see the keeper earn €3 million net per season, and the remaining detail to be ironed out is whether the contract will be for three years with the option of a fourth, as the Nerazzurri wish for, or four years without the option, as is preferred by Onana’s entourage.
