As per reports, Bristol Rovers boss Inigo Calderon is 'increasingly unlikely' to be at the helm of the club next season, as relegation to League Two beckons.

Rovers' home defeat at the hands of Reading on Saturday all but confirmed at the Bristol-based side will be playing in the fourth tier of English football next season, barring a drastic swing of goals on the final day.

This has seen reports emerge that former Brighton and Hove Albion defender Calderon is 'increasingly unlikely' to remain in post at the Memorial Stadium next season, as the Gas look all but guaranteed to be playing League Two football.

The Spaniard was appointed Bristol Rovers head coach on Boxing Day 2024, replacing Matt Taylor whose time with the club didn't live up to expectations. Sadly, the former defender has been unable to steer the club away from the drop zone in his six-month tenure.

After the latest reports, Football League World decided to take a look at three potential replacements for Calderon that Rovers should consider if their current boss departs.

Jon Brady

A Northampton Town legend, Jon Brady brought stability to the Cobblers, getting them promoted from League Two and turning them into an established League One side.

He resigned from the role at Sixfields in December 2024, and it's quite surprising that he hasn't been approached by another club yet, given the job he did at Northampton.

Bristol Rovers are in desperate need of some stability. There are often mentions of a Championship vision, but they've got to walk before they can run, which they haven't been able to do in recent years.

Brady knows his way out of League Two, and what it takes to establish a club in League One. This is exactly what the Gas need before they start having dreams of the second tier, making the 50-year-old a great fit for the role.

Claus Norgaard

One that might be a little bit of a left-field shout, but once again another surprise that an EFL club hasn't taken an interest in is Claus Norgaard.

The Danish coach is Thomas Frank's number two at Brentford currently, and has been working with the Bees boss for a long time in his coaching career thus far.

Based on the London club's success under Frank, it's surprising that nobody has approached Norgaard yet, as he's seen the success of the Brentford manager first-hand, and could look to emulate that in the EFL.

It would be a risky appointment, as the 45-year-old's managerial CV isn't the most eye-catching. However, Bristol Rovers could be the perfect place for Norgaard to try his hand at English management, and replicate what his compatriot has done in his career.

Rob Page

It's been a while since we've seen Rob Page in a domestic club's dugout, with January 2017 being the last time he managed in the EFL.

Since then, the former Port Vale and Northampton manager has enjoyed three years as manager of the Welsh international side, having been promoted from the Under-21s side. He led Wales in two major tournaments, but failed to qualify for Euro 2024.

The 50-year-old will be keen to get back in the dugout after being sacked from Wales last summer, and Bristol Rovers could offer him a great chance to get back into management.

Page likes to play a possession-based style of football, which is often more effective in this modern era of football. A rebuild in League Two which gives him at least a year to drill his style into the players. This means there's much less risk involved in appointing the ex-Wales boss than there would be in League One.
