The January transfer window is now officially open for business for another four weeks, though whether Manchester United will take advantage of the options available on the market remains to be seen.

Fans will know all too well that, in recent years, the winter has been the quietest window for the club, with managers mostly limited to loan signings rather than any big-name arrivals. Given the severe cost-cutting endeavours implemented by Sir Jim Ratcliffe since he took charge, the expectation is that this month will follow suit.

It’s certainly unfortunate, as Ruben Amorim is struggling to find success with his newly implemented system due to not having his desired players to carry out his ideas. It may be a case of making do until the end of the campaign, however torrid that may be, and reinforcing the squad how he sees fit in summer 2025.

When that time does roll around, Samuel Luckhurst believes there’s one player United have to go ‘all-out for’.

“[Bryan] Mbeumo is another player MUFC should be going all-out for in the summer (if they’ve not gone down),” the Manchester Evening News journalist said on X/Twitter last night. “A goalscorer, a worker, can play in a front three or on the wing, well-versed in playing in a back-three system and contract expires in 2026. He’s brilliant for Brentford.”

Mbeumo, 25, boasts a stunning record of 33 goals and 23 assists in 117 Premier League appearances. He’s already outscored his tally for the 2023/2024 term (nine goals), having found the back of the net 11 times in Brentford’s first 19 matches.

The Cameroon international has seamlessly transitioned into becoming Thomas Frank’s dependable talisman following Ivan Toney’s departure, and, as such, you can imagine a deal would be pretty hard to come by for United this year.
