Ever-present Athletic Club star Iñaki Williams’ incredible run of successive games for the Basque giants has came to an end this weekend.

The 28-year-old played in every LaLiga game for his boyhood club for a stunning six straight calendar years but injury has finally stopped him in his tracks.

It amounted to featuring in 251 consecutive league fixtures without missing any – having overcame fitness concerns several times throughout that run to take to the field.

You have to go back to April 2016 and a 1-0 loss to Atlético Madrid for the last time Williams didn’t feature for Athletic – six years and nine months ago!

That run of games is, understandably, a Spanish top flight record and one that is unlikely to ever be beaten.
