At the moment, nobody is referring to Mauricio Pochettino’s departure from Chelsea as a sacking – everyone is reporting it as a mutual agreement.

So you’d imagine that it was both sides that led to this departure. However, you can’t help but wonder if Pochettino was pretty much really left without a choice in the end. He clearly wanted more of a say in player sales and departures, but that was clearly never going to happen. So what choice did he have left come the end?

The players clearly love him, at least in general. Midfielder Moises Caicedo is the latest to react to the deparutre by posting a message to the Argentine on Instagram.

“What a person, what a coach”

Caicedo: “Mister, It was a pleasure. I wish you all the best for the future. What a person, what a coach!”
