Queens Park Rangers striker Sinclair Armstrong has enjoyed an impressive season so far.

Armstrong joined the R's from Shamrock Rovers in 2020, and after loan spells in the National League with Shamrock Rovers and Aldershot Town, he has been involved in the first team.

The 20-year-old has scored four goals and provided three assists in 30 appearances in all competitions for the Hoops this season, and his latest contribution came when he netted the crucial second goal in the 2-1 win over leaders Leicester City at the King Power Stadium on Saturday.

Armstrong's performances at club level have not gone unnoticed, and he received his first senior call-up to the Republic of Ireland squad in September, making his debut in the Euro 2024 qualifier against the Netherlands.

The striker is in the final year of his contract at Loftus Road, and the Evening Standard reported in October that the R's had offered him a new five-year deal amid interest from the likes of Manchester City, Crystal Palace and Celtic, but he is yet to sign an extension.

It has been an excellent few weeks for the Hoops, with Marti Cifuentes' side securing three consecutive victories to move up to 19th in the table, but they remain level on points with the relegation zone.

QPR fan pundit on Sinclair Armstrong contract uncertainty

FLW's QPR fan pundit Louis Moir admits he is worried that Armstrong is yet to commit his future to the club, but he believes staying at Loftus Road would be the best option for the striker.

"I must admit, I'm slightly concerned that we've not heard anything at the moment regarding Armstrong's new contract," Louis said.

"I'm sure the club have been working on it, and who knows, maybe something has been agreed and an announcement could yet come.

"We've got to get him tied down, I've spoken about him so many times before in such a positive light, and this season he's certainly stepped up and you've seen the difference in him as a player.

"He's looked better overall, his all-round game has improved, he's obviously still such a threat with his pace and strength, and he's caused massive problems to the best teams in this division, as seen at Leicester away. "When he's on it 100 per cent, if he was to add more goals to his game, he could well be one of the biggest dangers in this whole league because with his attributes of pace and strength, and his all round game starting to improve, if you add goals, then what a player to have and what an option to have. "I'm confident with the new CEO on board, the club's got a different feel to it, I'm sure they wouldn't have let this go and I'm sure Armstrong knows that, at such a young age, he's got plenty of years ahead of him. "He must know that QPR is the best place for him at the moment in terms of his development, especially under Marti Cifuentes.

"They really seem to get along, and Marti is getting the best out of him as well, so fingers crossed we hear something soon."

QPR must secure Sinclair Armstrong contract agreement

It is difficult to disagree with Louis that the silence over Armstrong's new contract is concerning, and as he continues to perform well, he could attract further interest ahead of the summer.

Armstrong is a player with huge potential, and while his goal return needs to improve, his pace and physicality have caused plenty of problems for opposition defences this season.

The striker will likely have no shortage of suitors, but as Louis says, he is thriving working with Cifuentes, and a few more years under the Spaniard's guidance would be beneficial for his development.
