Mikel Arteta is undoubtedly one of the best coaches in the world at this very moment, and that fact will remain unchanged even if he cannot guide Arsenal to their first Premier League in 20 years this coming weekend.

His 4.5-year spell in charge is the longest of any Arsenal manager since Arsene Wenger, although it’s highly unlikely that he stays as long as the Frenchman. When he does leave, there’s a good chance that he returns to Spain to continue his managerial career, as Arteta revealed himself (via Sport).

“I’ve always thought that one day I’ll come back (to Spain). My land pulls me a lot, our way of living, of getting together, the culture, and that makes me always have it in my head. But I’m happy here, happy with how I’m treated, I really enjoy my job. Someday I guess it will come, I’m not going to be out all my life.”

Arteta had been linked with Barcelona earlier in the season, and a return to his former club at some stage cannot be ruled out. Equally, the opportunity to manage boyhood club Real Sociedad could also be one that is too good to turn down.
