Frank Lampard has laid down the gauntlet to Michy Batshuayi, after the striker fired Chelsea into the fifth round of the FA Cup.
Batshuayi opened the scoring as Chelsea beat Hull City 2-1 at the KCOM Stadium.
However, the 26-year old has not had the most prolific of seasons at Stamford Bridge, with just one league goal to his name so far.
Chelsea have been actively searching for a striker during this transfer window, even before the injury to top goalscorer Tammy Abraham.
There have been a number of links to Paris Saint-Germain’s Edinson Cavani and RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner.
Speaking after Saturday’s victory at Hull, Lampard said: “He got his goal so I’m pleased as it’ll help his confidence.
“I want him firing, I want to see him performing. He’s an out and out striker, an international striker.
“I’ve said all season, we can’t just rely on Tammy.”
Batshuayi, who signed for Chelsea from Marseille for €39m in 2016, has 16 goals in 29 caps for Belgium.
