Fabrizio Romano delivers the latest update on the future of Marcus Rashford who still stands a chance at securing his long-desired Barcelona move.

The Manchester United academy product has once again found himself as an outcast at Ruben Amorim’s court.

Despite his largely impressive displays at Aston Villa, the club opted against spending £40 million to keep him at Villa Park beyond his six-month loan spell, so they decided to send him back to Carrington where he remains an unwelcome figure, alongside fellow exiles Jadon Sancho, Antony and Alejandro Garnacho.

Marcus Rashford edging closer to dream Barcelona move

The versatile attacker has been dreaming about signing for Barcelona for quite some time, but the Spaniards have yet to make a concrete move.

Nevertheless, Rashford received positive news this morning, as Nico Williams’ transfer to Barcelona fell apart, prompting the Spanish winger to sign a new 10-year contract with Athletic Bilbao with a higher release clause.

Therefore, the Englishman’s chances of sealing a move to Camp Nou have suddenly increased. But while Romano agrees with this notion, he warns that the 27-year-old is not yet on top of Barca’s shortlist.

In the latest video update posted on his official YouTube channel, the Italian journalist confirms that Rashford has been on the Catalans’ wishlist since January, and remains an interesting profile for the club. Moreover, the England international would be absolutely delighted to join the European giants.

However, Romano expects Barcelona to launch another attempt to buy Liverpool winger Luis Diaz who has now emerged as the new preferred candidate to bolster the left-wing role in Hansi Flick’s squad. Therefore, Rashford may be forced to wait a little longer before receiving a call from Catalunya.

Interestingly, Bayern Munich have taken a similar stance on the Manchester native as exclusively revealed by Stretty News on Thursday. The Bavarian giants have prioritised a move for Diaz, but could soon intensify their attempts to lure the Man Utd outcast to the Allianz Arena.

Hence, it appears that the fates of Rashford and Diaz have become somewhat entangled this summer.
