Despite having signed over two weeks ago, Dani Olmo is still unable to play for Barcelona. There was hope that he’d be registered in time to face Athletic Club on Saturday, but it was not to be. It means that he is still waiting to make his debut.
Attention now turns to whether he will be registered by Tuesday, when Barcelona take on Rayo Vallecano at Vallecas. The impending departures of Vitor Roque, Clement Lenglet and Mikayil Faye could be enough to free up the salary space required, although Hansi Flick does not known whether he will have Olmo at his disposal, as per Diario AS.
“I have hope (that he can play), but I don’t know. I can’t control it. We have to focus on what we can. Today we wanted the three points, and we got them.”
There’s no doubt that this situation has not been a good look for Barcelona, and Olmo must be incredibly frustrated that he cannot yet make his debut. It remains to be seen whether he will be able to on Tuesday.
