Hull City loanee Aaron Connolly has dropped a major hint that his future could lie away from parent club Brighton.
Connolly joined Hull on loan in January after a disappointing spell in Italy with Venezia and has had a positive start to life with the Tigers.
It’s left him admitting there could be a decision to be made this summer surrounding his long-term future should he maintain his form this season.
By his own admission, his career has stalled in the last couple of years having experienced poor spells at Luton and Middlesbrough on loan after becoming a regular in the Premier League with Brighton.
However, his spell with the Tigers has been a positive one so far and is fresh from a brace against QPR last weekend after a positive first start against Sheffield United the week before.
With another 12 months left on his contract with Brighton, Connolly admitted that a decision will need to be made about his future, as he told Hull Live: “I love Brighton, I’ve been there since I was 15, times were tough there near the end but I’m still contracted there.
“I just want to score more goals and push us up that table, and then come the summer, hopefully, there will be a decision to be made for everybody.”
Connolly previously worked with manager Liam Rosenior at Brighton in the under 23s with that relationship seemingly playing a big role in Connolly settling into life in Yorkshire.
With Hull looking to push up the table, they will need the Irish international to maintain his performance levels and should he maintain that form, there could be a place for Connolly in Rosenior’s side permanently.

The Verdict
Brighton certainly won’t stop Connolly from progressing as they previous when it comes to allowing players to move on.
Matt Clarke wasn’t hold to ransom over his move to Middlesbrough, nor was Viktor Gyokeres with his move to Coventry City.
Whilst it’s very early days, if Connolly continues his form, there could well be a place at Hull on a permanent basis which will no doubt suit all parties involved, given the Tigers are already benefitting from his services.
