Amid a difficult period for Portsmouth midfielder Tino Anjorin, supporters of Huddersfield Town will be able to sympathise, given the similar issues he faced at the Terriers.

The 22-year-old midfielder was brought in on loan from Chelsea during the summer transfer window, in what was an exciting window for Pompey as they brought in a whole host of young talent.

Pompey are currently top of League One, six points ahead of Bolton Wanderers in second place, who have a game in hand on the League leaders.

Signings like Alex Robertson have flourished in John Mousinho's system and are grabbing the headlines as Pompey look to earn promotion back to the Championship, for the first time since 2012.

But it's not been plane sailing for Chelsea loanee Anjorin, who has struggled to pick up a run of games amid a disappointing injury situation for the youngster.

Since joining Pompey, Anjorin has featured nine times in all competitions, scoring two goals in that time, and making a decent impression during the early stages of his Portsmouth career.

However, he has not featured since the FA Cup tie away at Chesterfield, where he picked up the unfortunate injury that has kept him out of the last five Pompey games.

Like last season, Anjorin has picked up an injury at a similar time of year as he did with the Terriers, and he'll be hoping it doesn't keep him out for as long as the previous one did.

The 22-year-old featured in eight of Huddersfield's first nine League games last season, but a series of knocks kept the youngster out for the rest of the season, and he didn't play a single minute after the game against Cardiff City in September 2022.

Whilst he showed glimpses of his talent in the early stages of his Huddersfield spell, including a brace away at West Brom in a 2-2 draw, injuries then derailed the 22-year-old's campaign, and there have been worries that continuous injuries may hamper Anjorin's career going forward.

Anjorin was a top talent at Chelsea

In his youth career, Anjorin was tipped to be a top player whilst at Stamford Bridge, and was a key man in the Blues 2017/18 U18s Youth League winning campaign.

On top of that, the youngster even has a Champions League medal to his name after being named on the bench as Chelsea beat Manchester City 1-0 in 2021.

Whilst there is clearly a top player in Anjorin, fans of Portsmouth will be hoping he recovers quickly from his injury issues in order to kick-on at the club.
