The 23-year-old has moved to Austrian top-flight club LASK on loan from Eintracht for a year.

Hrvoje Smolcic arrived at Eintracht Frankfurt in summer 2022 from Croatian first division outfit HNK Rijeka, and has since made 32 competitive appearances for the Eagles. In the 2023/24 season, the versatile defender featured in 18 games across the Bundesliga, DFB Cup and UEFA Europa Conference League.

Now, the Croatian has agreed a loan move to LASK for the 2024/25 campaign. Last term the club from Upper Austria finished third in the Admiral Bundesliga championship play-offs, behind winners Sturm Graz and runners-up Salzburg, thereby securing qualification for the UEFA Conference League and the qualifying round for the Europa League.

Eintracht board member for sport Markus Krösche: “Eintracht Frankfurt was Hrvoje Smolcic’s first spell abroad, and he’s continually developed here over the last two years. He’s technically gifted, strong in the tackle and in the air, and he always puts the team first both in training and in matches. He’s still young and we hope he’ll take the next step in his development at LASK in the coming season. To do that, regular playing time is hugely important.”
