Millwall are still very much in the running for a play-off spot this season in the Championship and could be thinking about a promotion – but that hasn’t stopped them from mulling over some potential summer transfer targets already.

As reported by Football Insider, Daniel Udoh could be a summer window target for the Lions, with the club keeping close tabs on how he is doing with Shrewsbury.

If they’ve seen him in action for the Shrews, then they’ll know he is powerful in the air (as you would expect from a 6ft striker), can dribble well and has doesn’t mind getting stuck in and doing some defensive work if needed too. Let’s not overlook the fact he can also hit the back of the net regularly too, as his 13 goals in 40 starts this year shows.

Yes No

The 25-year-old then could be a shrewd addition to the Millwall team if they do sign him, even if they only use him in rotation or alongside another attacker, even with his lack of second tier experience.

So where could he fit in? Gary Rowett has deployed a 3-4-1-2 and a 3-4-2-1 formation for his side over the course of the season so far, so he could certainly fit into either system.

He could thrive in the lone striker role in the latter system with the likes of Jed Wallace (if he stays), Benik Afobe or even Tyler Burey feeding him from the attacking midfield-esque positions. If they line up with two forwards, he could feed off the scraps that Tom Bradshaw or Afobe could grab for him and vice versa (if he’s strong in the air, then he could easily win the aerial duels and bring the ball down for a strike partner).

Who could he oust from the team then? Oliver Burke might get less of a look-in and one of either Tom Bradshaw or Benik Afobe would have to step to the wayside to free up space in a striking role for him.

Both are considerably older than Udoh though, so it would be paving way for a talent with plenty of potential.

There is certainly room for another striker to thrive then – and considering his attributes, he could aid the side in a multitude of ways if he does sign.
