Sargent had been linked with a number of clubs across the continent this summer.
Josh Sargent is expected to stick around at Norwich City beyond the transfer deadline on September 1.
A hectic 24 hours at Carrow Road is set to be brought to an end by the comings and goings of two midfielders. After that, sporting director Ben Knapper is set to put his feet up.
Marcelino Nunez's controversial move to rivals Ipswich Town for £10 million, plus add-ons, has triggered the Canaries move for Silkeborg midfielder Pelle Mattsson, who is set to cost Norwich around £3 million.
Nunez was always a likely candidate to leave this summer because of his contract situation - he had less than a year left on it.
Clubs on the continent had been touted as a potential landing spot for the Chilean - anyone who predicted him upping sticks and moving to Portman Road should buy a lottery ticket.
Nunez was among a few players who were being linked with moves away from Norwich this summer. Another of them was City's star striker Sargent.
The American centre-forward was, like Nunez, reportedly being considered as a transfer target for teams across Europe.
The likes of Burnley, Roma and Wolfsburg were all said to be keen on signing the Championship high-flyer, who has already scored four times in as many games in all competitions this season.
The sale of Nunez, however, is set to be Norwich's last major one of the summer, meaning Sargent will remain a City player until at least the winter, as per The Pink Un.
Less vital options like Anis Ben Slimane and Shane Duffy will be free to go before Monday's 7pm deadline, according to the Norfolk outlet, but that, for now, is expected to be as much outward movement as Norwich supporters can expect to see up until then.
If Liam Manning is to have any major success in his first season in charge of his hometown club, Sargent will be a key part of it
. Of course, the fitness question will always loom over the 25-year-old's head. Keep him on the right health path, though, and he has proven to be one of the most consistently lethal finishers in the second tier.
He has scored 75 per cent of the club's league goals so far this season. That's over a small sample size, obviously, but even in the previous campaign he carried a big chunk of City's goalscoring load.
Even in an injury-hit season, Sargent accounted for more than one-fifth of all of his side's goals in the Championship.
Numbers can lie, but they don't in this case. The American forward is incredibly important to what Norwich are trying to build, and this latest news will be a huge relief to all the supporters who may have been worried about a late poaching of the 25-year-old.
