An insight into the financial windfall coming the way of La Liga giants Barcelona, by way of Chadi Riad’s move to the Premier League with Crystal Palace, has today been provided.

Stopper Riad has of course seen his name take its place front and centre in the headlines across Europe over the week to date.

This comes after word was forthcoming that the aforementioned Crystal Palace had launched a sudden and decisive assault on his signature.

Riad, for his part, joined Real Betis from Barcelona last summer.

The transfer came in the form of a season-long loan, featuring an obligation to buy on the part of the former.

As much, in turn, will imminently be activated by the Betis brass, with Riad having enjoyed a stellar campaign on the books of the Verdiblancos.

The Moroccan international, however, will then be swiftly moved on, for a profit.

As revealed by transfer insider Fabrizio Romano, an agreement has been found between the respective boards at Real Betis and Crystal Palace, for a transfer worth €14 million.

Barcelona, meanwhile, are entitled to 50% of this fee.

When added to the incoming €2.5 million from the buyout clause in Riad’s move to the Benito Villamarín, this means that Barca are in line for a tidy cash injection in the region of €9.5 million.
