Arsenal are still weighing up striker targets, with Viktor Gyokeres, Victor Osimhen, Santiago Gimenez, Joshua Zirkzee and Nico Williams all linked, but have seemingly decided on their preferred midfield signing after making their first move to snap up Amadou Onana. Everton want at least £50million to sell the Belgium, and have also rejected Manchester United's opening bid of £35m for Jarrad Branthwaite.
Chelsea have also been busy with the transfer window in its second day, with Tosin Adarabioyo signed, Estevao Willian imminent and Michael Olise firmly in their sights. They have also been granted permission to speak to £40m-rated Jhon Duran, but are now having second thoughts over the Aston Villa striker.
United, along with Branthwaite, also like Joao Neves, Matthijs de Ligt and Leny Yoro, the latter also being chased by Liverpool and Real Madrid. Tottenham are preparing a move for Eberechi Eze after learning more about the Crystal Palace star's release clause, and have been linked with Dominic Solanke and Ivan Toney. Arsenal have been told they must pay up to land Viktor Gyokeres this summer.
The Gunners are desperate to sign a new forward, be it one who can be the focal point of the attack or play wide, with alternatives now being sought after top target Benjamin Sesko opted to remain at RB Leipzig.
According to The Sun, prolific Sporting Lisbon forward Gyokeres is on the Emirates Stadium radar having been scouted plenty over the last few months.
However, the former Coventry star has an £85m release clause in his current contract in Portugal and Sporting do not want to sell him for much less.
It is said that Arsenal would prefer a deal around the £50-60m mark.

Arsenal are reportedly trying to sign Real Madrid goalkeeper Andriy Lunin in a shock deal this summer.
The Gunners are expected to be on the lookout for a new stopper before next season to provide cover and competition for No1 David Raya, who is set to complete a permanent £27m transfer from London rivals Brentford after a successful season-long loan spell.
That is because England’s Aaron Ramsdale is widely expected to move on as he seeks to revitalise his stalled career having lost the starting job to Raya at the start of this season.
Arsenal are confident of agreeing a contract extension with third-choice option Karl Hein, but want him to go out on loan to an EFL club next season.
According to reports from Spain, a proposal has already been sent to Lunin, the Ukraine international who ended up being an important figure for Real Madrid in their Champions League and LaLiga-title winning season after injuries to both Thibaut Courtois and Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Dutch centre-back is expected to leave Bayern Munich this summer and previously worked with Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax.
Florian Plettenberg of Sky Germany reports that United are closely monitoring De Ligt, with Ten Hag remaining a big fan of the player.
Vincent Kompany’s Bayern will apparently sell the 24-year-old for a “suitable offer” as they prepare to sign Stuttgart’s Hiroki Ito and also chase a deal for Bayer Leverkusen defender Jonathan Tah.

The race is on to sign Leny Yoro.
The 18-year-old Lille defender will not sign a new contract ahead of his existing deal expiring in 2025, sparking an auction for his talents this summer.
Lille are happy to cash in but The Athletic say Real Madrid are strongly expected to land him, either this summer or as a free agent next year.
A move now would cost around £42m.
Manchester United and Liverpool are both pushing hard to change that narrative, along with Paris Saint-Germain.
All three are said to have approached Yoro’s camp with a deal that would match or exceed Madrid’s offer.

Ivan Toney can leave Brentford for £60m this summer.
However, talkSPORT claim there are few clubs keen on the 28-year-old at that price.
Arsenal and Manchester United are both said to be looking elsewhere at this time.
Tottenham have previously been linked with Toney, will they make a move? Football Insider reckon Spurs are planning to break their £63m club transfer record with a ‘marquee’ signing in the upcoming transfer window.

That’s according to the Guardian, who add that background checks are being made before further progress is made.
