It was first reported by Alan Nixon that the Premier League club are ready to sign the 15-year-old this summer after impressing at underage level, with Fabrizio Romano confirming that the move has been completed.

The Owls are currently suffering with financial issues, with owner Dejphon Chansiri failing to pay staff on time in two of the last three months.

This has seen Man City step in and take advantage, targeting a move for one of their most highly rated young stars.

Here we take a look at how much Sheffield Wednesday have earned from this transfer for the Scottish teenager…

Caelan Cadamarteri’s transfer cost

It has been reported that Man City agreed to pay £1.5 million up front for Cadamarteri, allowing him to move to the Premier League club immediately.

It’s believed this fee will prove incredibly helpful to the Owls’ current financial issues, and will inject cash into the Yorkshire outfit straight away.

Cadamarteri has yet to make his breakthrough into the first team squad at the age of just 15, but it is clear there is a lot of excitement surrounding his future given the links to Pep Guardiola’s squad.

The striker has joined the Premier League side and is likely to go into their academy system, where he will look to further develop before potentially earning a chance in the first team squad in the years to come.

It remains to be seen how this £1.5 million will be used by Sheffield Wednesday, particularly with the transfer market now in full flow.

The future of manager Danny Rohl has been a major talking point at the Championship club in recent weeks.

However, the cash-flow issues being suffered means that it’s unlikely this £1.5 million fee received by Man City will go straight to finding improvements to the squad through the transfer market given the two separate failures to pay staff on time.

It has been reported by the BBC that Sheffield Wednesday have been charged by the EFL following May’s late payment of wages.

The Owls have two weeks to respond to the charge, which gives them until 17 June to decide on their next step.

In the meantime, the completion of this £1.5 million deal will help to ensure the club have cash, which should help avoid a repeat incident in the short-term.

But a longer-term fix will be needed to avoid a third incident, which could come with further charges from the EFL.

Chansiri has come under pressure from supporters to sell his stake in the Championship side, but no takeover appears imminent despite reported interest.

According to The Star, the Thai businessman turned down an offer from a US-based consortium to purchase the club.

It remains to be seen whether further offers will be made, or if Chansiri can be convinced to sell.
