Milan officially confirmed their spot in the 2025 edition of the Supercoppa Italiana after recording an emphatic 5-1 victory over Cagliari in San Siro on Saturday evening, which will provide the Rossoneri with several million in prize money.
The Supercoppa is now effectively a mini-tournament including four teams, made up of the winners and runners-up from Serie A and the Coppa Italia.
Though Juventus can still technically catch Milan into second place in the league, Max Allegri’s side have already booked their spot in the Supercoppa, having reached the Coppa Italia final, which will be played against Atalanta on Wednesday night.
Over €16m in prize money has been set aside for the four participating Supercoppa sides. Each team will receive a guaranteed €1.6m for competing in the semi-finals.
The losing finalists will then receive an additional €5m, and the eventual winners will be granted an extra €8m.
Calciomercato.com also reports that a spot in the Supercoppa, which will be hosted in Saudi Arabia, is also an important part of Milan’s marketing plans in the region.
