The Thai businessman has come under pressure from supporters to cash in on his stake in the Owls due to the difficult financial situation they are currently in.

Speculation surrounds much of the first team squad due to unpaid wages in three of the last four months, which means that those impacted could terminate their contracts and leave the club for nothing.

Manager Danny Rohl has also had an uncertain future in recent months, with a new owner coming in the only likely way to keep the popular German coach.

Positively, it has been reported by The Star that a scramble to try and buy Sheffield Wednesday could now happen with the new Championship season just weeks away.

Chansiri’s ownership of Sheffield Wednesday has been the subject of intense speculation in recent months.

There have been multiple reports of bids already being received to take over the Championship side, which have not been accepted.

It was claimed back in June, as reported by The Athletic, that the Yorkshire outfit’s owner rejected an offer worth $75 (£55.1) million by a bid led by Adam Shaw.

According to a report by The Star, also from June, there is no official asking price set by Chansiri for the second tier club.

It is understood that he has previously rejected offers to buy Sheffield Wednesday worth up to £160 million, although an offer of that size is now unlikely to be forthcoming.

It is believed there are multiple suitors ready to take action and potentially buy the Owls ahead of the new campaign.

American billionaire John Textor has been linked with the potential purchase of Sheffield Wednesday, with the businessman currently involved with clubs like Crystal Palace and Lyon.

Textor has reportedly agreed to sell his stake in the Eagles in a deal worth £190 million, which would open the door for him to purchase Chansiri’s shares in the Owls.

It was reported by the BBC on Wednesday that Rohl is set to return to the club this week, with the players already taking part in pre-season.

The 36-year-old’s future at Hillsborough was uncertain throughout the summer, but it is now being claimed that he could remain if a sale comes to fruition quickly.

There are still a number of players that could yet walk away from Sheffield Wednesday this summer due to unpaid wages.

Per FIFA’s rules, players who went unpaid last month have the option to hand in their notice to terminate their contracts, although it remains unclear which, if any, players have opted for this route.

But it is increasingly likely that Djeidi Gassama’s time with the Owls has come to an end, with the winger closing in on a move to Scottish giants Rangers.
