Textor was reported to be looking at buying the Owls from Dejphon Chansiri.
John Textor has responded to questions over a prospective Sheffield Wednesday takeover.
It all of a sudden feels as if there is a real possibility of new ownership heading the way of Hillsborough in the imminent future. According to The Star, a number of parties are now interested in taking the club off of chairman Dejphon Chansiri, who has failed to pay his players their May and June wages, and has failed to make up debts owed to other parties.
Americans, Brits and even people from Monaco are looking at the Championship outfit, as per the Sheffield outlet.
It is known that two bids from a Florida-based consortium have been turned down, although Chansiri has disputed the amount that was offered to him on both occasions, after one of the group's leaders, Sheffield-born Adam Shaw, claimed that the Thai businessman had rejected proposals worth £48 million and £55 million.
Another American, Textor, has been linked with potentially taking over the Owls. He recently sold his shares in Crystal Palace for £190 million and was told by another ex-Eagles owner, Simon Jordan, to look at taking advantage of the horrible state of affairs currently playing out at Hillsborough.
Textor, whose company, Eagle Football Holdings, still retains ownership in a number of other European clubs, including Lyon, who have just had their relegation to Ligue 2 overturned, has now been asked by Jordan's talkSPORT co-host Jim White about whether he is considering a move for Wednesday. The American responded in a very political way.
"Sheffield Wednesday, to me, is the example of what is wrong with English football, because they should still have a chance of winning a championship every year and they don't.
"When we say 'Oh Manchester City, they had this historic win'. Well they aren't really historic when you have that kind of advantage.
"I would love to see the rules allow a Sheffield Wednesday to win the Premier League again."
Textor had previously said that him and his partners like the thought of "buying a second division team and getting promoted." But his most recent comments on national radio don't suggest that Wednesday will necessarily be the one for him. A leap back into the English game doesn't appear to be what the 59-year-old immediately wants.
Based on the recent reports of spiking interest in the club, this shouldn't come as a huge worry to those associated with the club, because there are a number of other avenues that they could potentially go down.
